Application of a passport in Ghana is very simple when you have met all the requirements. Today, we look at the requirements and how long it takes to get the passport .You can apply for, renew or replace your passport and pay for it online. You’ll have to print out a form at the end. You must sign and date the form, add any documents or photographs that are needed, and return it for processing.
It should take at least 7 working days to get your first passport once your form has been physically submitted at the Immigration offices. For all other application types, it should take at least 15 working days. It can take longer if more information is needed or your application hasn’t been filled out correctly.
STEPS OF APPLICATION
Go to Passport.mfa.gov.gh/LOGIN and click on the passport application form.
Read the instructions carefully then fill the application form.
Select the mode of payment and pay for the passport fees.[You can do payment at GCB BANK,ECOBANK,ZENITH BANK,MTN MOBILE MONEY,AIRTEL MONEY AND VODAFONE CASH)
Download and print the application form and three application receipts.
Submit the application form in person to the Immigration offices.
DURING THE SUBMISSION YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING
- Birth Certificate(Proof of Ghanaian citizenship)
- Documents to support Identity such as Driver’s Licence, National ID card
- Proof of Profession (An introductory letter from the applicant’s employer that is if the applicant is currently employed or a work ID card that bears applicant’s name, organisation’s name and position. A student ID if the applicant is currently in school. Homemakers/housewives and applicants that are unemployed and those in the non-formal sector of employment like mechanics, hairdressers seamstresses, traders etc. do not need proof. Registered Business Owners and self-employed applicants must produce their business registration certificate as proof)
